If you’re a bread lover in this town, then you know the name Dan Riesenberger, aka Dan the Baker, who has been delivering sensational European-style breads and pastries to a hungry Central Ohio crowd for the past four years. A regular at the Clintonville Community, Weiland’s Gourmet, and both locations of The Hills Markets, demand for his product has forced Dan the Baker to expand – and he couldn’t be happier about it.

“We’ve grown our wholesale and retail business to the point where we need more space, so it’s time to move up,” Riesenberger shares. “Having our own well-equipped space will allows us to perfect our current product line, as well as start new projects.”

Many of Dan the Baker’s breads and pastries are soy, sugar, oil, and yeast free, a real find for those with food allergies. All of his grains are organic, and his focus remains on hand-crafting baked goods that are seasonal and as locally-sourced as possible. Moving into his own place will likely only generate more creative, sumptuous fare, while allowing him the room to build on what he already does so well.

At the new storefront, Dan will still offer his top sellers like the Seeded Sour and Black Walnut Breads, and the wickedly delicious Ham & Cheese Croissant, and is already planning a retail aspect to the business that’s still in its infancy in development. He is set to open in mid to late summer near the corners of Grandview Avenue and Dublin Road, at 1028 Ridge Street.

“Grandview chose me, as that is where the facility I found was located,” Riesenberger states. “We are already working with local businesses, and I feel we have a lot of wonderful energy to bring to the community.”

Currently, Dan the Baker’s products can be enjoyed at local restaurants including Alana’s Food & Wine, Mouton, Commonwealth Sandwich Bar, and Skillet Rustic Urban Food.
