Crew Ties Orlando 2-2 in Their 10th Draw of the Season
Tony Tchani and Ola Kamara helped a dominant Columbus Crew SC ease past fellow strugglers Orlando City SC, as the home team’s possession focused game-plan finally paid off with a 2-0 win of the first half on Saturday night at MAPFRE Stadium. Unfortunately, for Crew SC fans, the game had a second half.
Orlando were a much better team in the second half as Columbus sat on their lead. The Lions brought their Brazilian superstar, Kaka on from the substitute bench in the 60th minute, and it took just ten more minutes before the away team were back on level terms with goals from Kevin Molino and Cyle Larin.
Things were looking good for Crew SC early on after marauding-midfielder Tony Tchani ploughed into the box and coolly slotted the ball past Orlando ‘keeper Joe Bendik.
Ola Kamara kept his goalscoring run from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time after the Crew SC forward was sent flying in the box by an onrushing Bendik.
Columbus welcomed back Federico Higuain midway through the second-half and Crew SC pushed on for a late winner, but even with the return of Higuain the home team were unable to find a winning goal.
Crew SC end their three home game run with three draws and now head back out on the road to play Toronto next Sunday evening.
