Crew Falls to Philadelphia Union in Mid-Week Match
Columbus Crew SC’s rubbish 2016 season continued on Wednesday night as the home side fell 2-1 to the rookies of Philadelphia Union at MAPFRE Stadium.
Fabian Herbers opened the scoring after 60 minutes of lacklustre action with a possible handball followed by a cross-goal shot that beat Crew `keeper Steve Clark.
Adam Jahn appeared to set Crew SC up for yet another thrilling home draw when his rebound effort was given as a goal, despite looking as though the Philadelphia defense had done just enough to keep it from crossing the line.
Philadelphia took full advantage of the fans, and maybe a player or two, checking the replay on the scoreboard as the Union nicked the winning goal from the restart with 2016 SuperDraft pick Keegan Rosenberry slotting the ball into the Crew SC net.
After failing to win this must-win game, Crew SC face their next must-win game on Saturday night against San Jose at MAPFRE.
