Columbus Crew SC took three more important points on Saturday evening with goals from Ola Kamara and Jonathan Mensah continuing the four-game unbeaten mini-streak and giving the home team a 2-1 win over FC Dallas.

Kamara opened the scoring early in the second half after a usual patient Crew SC build up centering around Federico Higuain. The Crew forward sent the ball wide to Hector Jimenez who pushed his way into the box before drilling the ball across goal to Kamara who in typical fashion threw himself at the ball to force the goal into the net.

Columbus doubled their lead in the 71st minute with a first goal from central defender Jonathan Mensah who’d crept into the Dallas box to drill home a diving header off of Higuain’s free kick.

FC Dallas made things a little more interesting on the 78th minute by halving the deficit with a Walker Zimmerman header but Crew SC managed to keep control of the match and see out the remaining minutes and pick up the points.

Columbus now find themselves sitting in a surprising 3rd place in the Eastern Conference (and MLS overall) after this recent run of form, however, the surrounding teams have at least two games so there’s still plenty to do for Crew SC as the MLS enters the final few months of the season before the play-offs.
