    Concert Preview: Keeps at Spacebar

Tennessee dream pop-smiths Keeps will drop in at Old North Columbus’ Spacebar on Friday night, touring to support the forthcoming release of their first full-length album, Brief Spirit (due in March on Old Flame Records). Building on past EP releases (2013’s Rift and High), bandmates Gusti Escalante and Robbie Jackson’s elegiac vocals are uplifted by weaving ribbons of drums, synths and guitars; the latter exemplified by the shrill riffs and steady thump of the set’s new single, “Translucent Girl”.

Pointing to influences Echo and the Bunnymen, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and David Bowie, Keeps’ sound is proof that Nashville-grown bands can transcend country soil. After two stops in Ohio, the duo will move their tour eastward for the entire month of February with dates in Pennsylvania, New York, Washington, D.C., and New Jersey.

Keeps will perform at Spacebar, 2590 North High Street, Columbus, along with She Bears and Noble Vices on Friday, January 29th at 9:00 pm ($5.00 entry, 18 + only).
