Columbus locals Forest & The Evergreens will celebrate the release of their new EP Young Funk tonight at Skully’s Music Diner. The group has been rocking together since 2011 and includes Parker Muntz on guitar and vocals, Terrance Farmer on saxophone and keys, Mickey Drury on guitar, Jeff Bass on bass and Mike Twice on drums.
Our readers chose Forest & The Evergreens as 2013’s Best Local Band and their unique sound has earned them shows all over Columbus, including a time slot at this year’s Park Street Festival, Music on the Lawn, and the Creekside Jazz and Blues Festival.
Joining the band tonight to help celebrate their EP’s release are Angela Perley & The Howlin’ Moons and Lemon Sky. Lemon Sky will be visiting from Cincinnati. They’re a psychedelic rock group and cite “tequila and taco bell” as their influences. Angela Perley & The Howlin’ Moons are Columbus natives who recently released their first full-length album, Hey Kid. Angela & The Howlin’ Moons have been playing together since 2009 and by now you’ve likely heard their single “Hurricane” on CD102.5. Their Americana rock sounds, catchy tunes, and fantastic stage presence makes them a Columbus group you need to know about.
The show is all ages and will start at 9pm. Hear a song from Angela Perley & The Howlin’ Moons and Lemon Sky, and a teaser from Forest & The Evergreens to see what is in store:
