    Comfest Bands To Watch: Sunday

Comfest is upon us! Three days of local music, food, vendors, activities, beer and people watching takes place all weekend from June 27th through June 29th. If you plan to go today, here’s four bands you won’t want to miss:

    Van Dale – 2:40 p.m. – Offramp Stage

You love ’em because they’re easy to listen to. Like Weezer or old-school Blink 182, you want to wail every lyric with the lead vocalist. It just feels right. The alternative rock trio is comprised of Joe, Tim and Travis. Every performance is accompanied with a highly involved crowd, and Joe (vocals) reaching desperately to the audience with his bellowing vocals. Loud alternative rock is always appropriate, and these dude play it well.

    The Floorwalkers – 2:50 p.m. – Bozo Stage

With nearly 12,000 likes on Facebook, The Floorwalkers are rightfully seeing stardom. The four piece pulls from influences including Miles Davis, Van Morrison, Ray Charles and Zeppelin (just to name a few), creating a sound that leaves a taste in just about anyones mouth. “Three Wishes,” released off their 2008 EP, attracts the moths to the flame. Jonathon, a classic swooner on vocals, and Ben, Kerry and Theo (bass and guitar) dive into funky, groovy, hip-hop patterns that leaves your soul on the dancefloor.

    The Apes – 4:55 p.m. – Offramp

This unique four-piece is the band I am most excited to see. A band with such a melting-pot of sounds will surely leave you disoriented and wildly impressed once you expose yourself to the bizarre, euro-world sounds of soul and experimental funk. With an electric violin, keys, drums and a bass, submit to defeat as you allow the vibrant sound waves to travel through your body and succumb you to full-body jamming.

    Bummers – 5:50 p.m. – Offramp

Warning: You go see the Bummers, you’ll get “bummed.” Consider this a right of passage. You might lose your hat or your pants… or end up wearing somebody else’s pants… that’s the beauty of a Bummers show. You’re friends with everyone, and you’re there to dance to the surfer rock sounds of the four piece. Concluding your Comfest weekend with the beach-fuzz tunes from Bummers might be the best decision you’ll make all weekend.
