The City of Columbus recently completed the five-phase rollout of the new residential curbside recycling program, and the team at RecyColumbus is ready to address one of the common questions brought up about the program.
“Many residents who live in apartments and condos have contacted us and said they would like to participate in RecyColumbus,” said Erin Miller, Environmental Steward for the City of Columbus. “We are listening to their requests and trying to figure out a way to make this possible.”
Select apartment and condo complexes across the city of Columbus are currently under consideration for the program, and priority will be given to complexes that area already utilizing trash removal service through the city of Columbus.
“We have to be sure that any new residences have room for the 64-gallon carts,” said Miller. “Plus, some residents may not have enough space for the collection trucks to maneuver and collect recyclables.”
The apartment and condo expansion of the RecyColumbus program has been allocated into the City budget and will not require additional funding. If you are interested in requesting recycling service at your apartment or condo building, contact the 311 hotline at 614-645-3111.
