According to an article in yesterday’s Dispatch (“Latinos, Asians log big growth“) Columbus ranks in 9th place nationally for the largest percentage of increase in Latino and Asian populations. Between 2000 and 2008, the Latino population in the Columbus metro area grew by 86% from 27,262 to 50,708, and the Asian population grew 48% from 35,483 to 52,515. The data comes from a report released by the Brookings Institution. Anyone want to fathom a guess of how much more growth we’ll see when the 2010 census results come in?
