Columbus Partnership Announces New CEO for 2022
Last week the Columbus Partnership announced a change in leadership for the first time in 13 years with the news that CEO and President Alex Fischer would be exiting his role at the start of next year. Fischer will transition into an advisor position with the organization while Kenny McDonald steps into the role as new President and CEO on January 1, 2022.
“The Columbus Partnership is a special organization, and I’m proud of the work we’ve done to advance the greatest city in America,” stated Fischer in a press release. “After 13 extraordinary years, the time is right to pass the torch. Kenny has been my longtime partner in Columbus, and I couldn’t be more supportive of his leadership as we work together to implement this transition.”
McDonald currently serves as the President and CEO of One Columbus, the Central Ohio region’s economic development organization formerly known as Columbus 2020. Fischer played a role in founding Columbus 2020 early in his tenure, ushering in a new approach to economic development practices with a focus on public-private partnerships.
“Alex has been a pivotal leader during a transformational era in Columbus,” stated co-vice chairs of the Columbus Partnership in a joint statement. “From economic development to smart city initiatives, from public policy to placemaking – his impact is far-reaching. Our region would not be what it is today without him.”
The Columbus Partnership is a nonprofit membership organization of local business leaders that advocate on behalf of their collective goals for the future of Central Ohio business growth and economic development.
Earlier this year, the Columbus Partnership purchased a prominent seven-story building Downtown and unveiled plans to transform the building as a new hub for economic development.
