Columbus Mega Summer Weekend 2008 – Vol. 3

While this weekend doesn’t contain any major downtown festivals, it does have one large downtown annual event… City Hop. The tour of downtown living spaces kicks off on Saturday from 10am through 6pm and features 18 developments this year. A great way to check out these places all at once.

This weekend is also a great one for food. Who likes food?

The Double Beanie Burger Challenge takes place on Saturday at 2pm. Show up to compete or simply cheer on the other eaters. If you missed out on the Dagwood Challenge at the Ohio Deli, then this video is a good indicator of what to expect. Prior to that, tomorrow morning the Slow Food group will be leading a strawberry-picking expedition for those interested. And then tomorrow night, the Columbus Beer Wench is hosting a Belgian Beer Tasting and Local Pizza event at the Bristol Bar. There’s also the grand opening of a new farmer’s market this afternoon on the South Side through 6pm.

And for festivals, the JuneteenthOhio Festival will take place all weekend long at the Franklin Park Conservatory, celebrating all things related to African American culture, history, and independence. The Zombie Walk is happening on Saturday in Goodale Park.
