The Columbus Marathon is, whether most of us realize it or not, a thriving piece of our city’s sports landscape. Ten thousand runners and walkers participated last year. Thousands of fans and volunteers lined the course.
A million people showed no interest whatsoever.
The task of race organizers, then, is to make a bigger event, generate greater participation and make more of us care. To that end, they have ironed out some wrinkles here, and added some there. The 29th running, on Oct. 19, just might be the start of a better era.
