It’s still a little bit too early to start camping outside for the grand opening, but the new Polaris-area IKEA had another milestone in its construction timetable this week. Construction crews hoisted the eight-foot-tall four-letter logo onto the side of the building yesterday, temporary calling the store “IK” as seen in the photo.
Additionally, passers by may notice helicopters hovering over the building this Saturday, as they are being used to install 42 air handling units on the roof of the building, each weighing between 2,500 and 7,500 pounds.
Work began on the new store back in May, and has a grand opening planned for Summer 2017. Once open, the new store will measure 354,000 square feet on 33 acres of land formerly home to the Germain Amphitheater.
