Lately, census numbers rarely have been kind to Cleveland. Today, one is downright gloomy. According to U.S. Census estimates to be released today, Cleveland lost 5,067 people from July 1, 2006, to July 1, 2007, more than any other city in the country.

That’s almost the entire population of Groveport.

About 2 1/2 hours down I-71, the number is on the plus side, again: 4,779. Columbus had another year of steady growth.
