    Columbus Foundation Seeking Summer Fellows

    December 4 is the deadline for students to submit applications for the 2016 program

    Columbus, OH (October 30, 2015)—The Columbus Foundation recently named 10 nonprofit organizations that will serve as host sites for its 2016 Summer Fellowship Program. Since 2010, the Foundation’s Summer Fellowship Program has been providing career-related work experience for college and graduate students interested in the nonprofit sector. These fellowships are made possible by the generosity and vision of many Foundation donors.

    The following nonprofits were chosen through a competitive application process. Each nonprofit will receive a grant from The Columbus Foundation to cover a stipend for the Fellow.

    Center for Balanced Living    
    To support the outreach team with social media marketing strategies for critical programming, prevention, and treatment areas.

    Concord Counseling Services, Inc.    
    To develop and pilot a curriculum benefiting youth whose family members are in supportive housing and are receiving services for mental health and/or substance abuse.

    Cristo Rey Columbus High School     
    To develop a two-year communications and fundraising strategy to maximize and celebrate the school’s first graduating class.

    Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services (ETSS)     
    To assist in the management of logistics, operations, and programming for the organization’s summer activities across four locations.

    Jazz Arts Group of Columbus   
    To support the execution of the JazZoo! Summer Concert Series through communication strategies and events management efforts.

    KIPP Columbus
    To assist teachers and administrators by collecting and organizing student achievement data, facilitating historical analysis of education data, and creating easy-to-read report templates.

    LifeCare Alliance     
    To support the operation, outreach, and promotion of the organization’s social enterprise, Carrie’s Café; as well as other nutrition services programming.

    Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations (OANO)
    To assist with the development and creation of the newest Standards of Excellence program, while also assisting in the review process of accrediting nonprofits.

    Ohio History Connection Foundation
    To assist the organization’s Educational Partnerships and Outreach division by providing educational outreach through the ‘History to Go’ program to urban youth in central Ohio.

    Westerville Symphony
    To support the planning, marketing, and delivery of the Summer Community Concert Series and fundraising events, such as the Beethoven 5k.

    The Foundation is currently seeking college or graduate students to fill the Fellowships at these nonprofit organizations. The deadline to submit a student application online is Friday, December 4. To qualify for a Fellowship, applicants must be a college junior, senior, 2016 graduate or graduate student in the fall of 2016, and be a Franklin County high school graduate or pursuing a degree at a Franklin County college or university.

    Selected students will be placed with a nonprofit for the length of the Fellowship Program, from May 31–August 5, 2016. Highly desired qualifications for Fellows include a strong academic record (preferably a 3.0+ GPA) and strong verbal and written communications skills.
