Columbus Fans Demand Energy; Girl Talk Delivers

Gregg Gillis, aka Girl Talk, gave Columbus a reason to forget the arctic conditions outside by bringing his insanely infectious mashed-up dance party to a frenzied sold-out LC Pavilion on Thursday night.

One can certainly raise an eye brow at the concept of Girl Talk. Gillis plays no musical instrument, instead he takes samples of other artist’s work and seamlessly blends them all together on a single laptop into what can only be described as musical ecstasy.

The live show was able to match the high energy of the music. Gillis filled the stage with dozens of adrenaline-high dancing fans and toilet paper streamers flew through the air. All adding to the basement-party atmosphere Gillis seems so desperate to keep despite the current tours bigger venues.

Girl Talk’s live show is a fantastic experience. You may not agree with the methods Gillis uses to create the music, however, this is one concert experience that’s hard not to enjoy and shouldn’t be missed the next time he brings his laptop to town.
