Columbus Crew Owners Reverse Name & Logo Changes

Yesterday evening, the owners of the Columbus Crew SC team met with a group of fans representing the Crew’s supporting community and came to decision to reverse some of the changes made in their recent branding update.

No new branding marks are being made available at this point in time, with an unveiling to be made during a separate announcement in the near future. The ownership committed to keeping the “Crew” name as the main identifier of the team, adding it to the new crest, and adding the number “96” to the logo as well.

Update: New logos and crests were emailed to media at 4:45pm today, and the featured image in this post was updated to reflect the changes.

Many fans and supporters were caught off guard last week when the team ownership unveiled a new logo and look that was widely panned, and included the retirement of the “Crew” name in a rebrand to a more generic “Columbus SC”.

“We’re super excited about the progress we’ve made and where we’re going as a club,” stated Crew SC co-owner Dr. Pete Edward in a video statement yesterday. “We’re going to be the Columbus Crew, and we’re going to be the Columbus Crew forever.”
