The Crew sank to a disappointing defeat to English Premier League side Newcastle United in an International friendly at Crew Stadium on Tuesday night after a red card practically ended the contest just before half time.

Newcastle took an early lead after Shola Amoebi scored in the 8th minute and always looked the dominant side. It was looking hard for the Crew to find a way back into the game. And with half time just moments away, Crew ‘keeper Andy Gruenebaum was given a straight red card for handling the ball outside the box and denying Newcastle striker Demba Ba a clear shot on goal.

Newcastle’s one man advantage started to show in the second half as Fabricio Colocinni and Haris Vukcic scored for the visiting team as they ended the game winning by 3-0.
