    Comfort Food Festival Preview: Sweet Carrot, Palle, Blind Lady Tavern, Moretti’s & The Boathouse

    There are many things that we love about fall! The leaves changing, busting out our flannel, football season and, of course, the food. As the temperatures drop Comfort Food comes back on the scene in full force! From soups and stews to freshly baked biscuits, we want it all. But who has the best in our great city? That’s what we are here to find out. Columbus Underground has partnered with Shipt to bring you a brand new event to the Best Bites series, Comfort Food! Join us on Thursday, November 2 at COSI to chow down on a wide range of comforting bites from local vendors.

    We thought we’d give you a little peek inside the event, so you can get ready to fill up on these mouthwatering dishes.

    Blind Lady Tavern has been serving up comfort food with a Louisiana twist since 2015. Located Downtown, this pre-prohibition-style bar and brings a bit of the South to Columbus. At Best Bites: Comfort Food you can sample their cheesy Shagbark grits, garlic-tomato sauce and house Cajun spice shrimp.

    Located in Grandview, Sweet Carrot is a family-oriented restaurant and caterer serving fresh, casual comfort food. Fresh is the name of the game here. They make everything from smoked meats to baked goods in-house daily for you to enjoy! At Best Bites: Comfort Food Sweet Carrot will be serving up Mini Sweet Yeast Roll with Pulled Pork, smothered with house slaw, their off-the-hook Corn Salsa and Homemade Sauce.

    Just down the street in Grandview is Palle by Moretti, a new meatball-centric restaurant that pulls from decades of tradition. Their dishes are served alongside made-from-scratch sides and pasta, and are topped with sauces made from decades-old secret recipes. At Best Bites: Comfort Food they will be dishing out Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Chicken Meatballs and Marsala Gravy.

    Tim Moretti, will also be showcasing his sister restaurant, Moretti’s of Arlington, at the event. Focusing on traditional Italian dishes that have been served by his family for generations, Moretti aims to make each guest feel like family. At Best Bites: Comfort Food, guests will get a taste of tradition by sampling their Gouda Mac’n’Cheese with Onion Straws.

    The Boathouse Restaurant offers a fine dining experience with an incomparable view of Downtown Columbus. Uniquely situated on the banks of the Olentangy and Scioto Rivers guests are invited to dine on their expansive patio or enjoy the view from their cozy interior. Their menu boasts inventive dishes and handcrafted cocktails. At Best Bites: Comfort Food they will be bringing Chorizo and Potato Empanada with Poblano Salsa for guests to try.

    Tickets to the event are $30 and include food samples from all vendors, live entertainment, a specialty cash bar featuring Modelo, Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon, Jacob’s Creek Classic Chardonnay, and Saint Brendan’s Irish Cream, and voting rights to name the Best Bite of the night. Plus, all ticket holders will get exclusive after-hours access to all of Cosi’s exhibits (a $20 value!) – we know you want to ride that highwire unicycle.

    All guests will have access to explore COSI from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. You can choose from two ticketed times to get your food samples, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. or from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. The only question is, do you want to have your fun before or after dinner?
