    Clippers lose to Syracuse, 8-4

A chilly spring evening was made a little colder by a lack of runs from the Columbus Clippers Friday night as they lost to the Syracuse Chiefs 8-4.

Things looked relatively even between the two sides through four innings, but a 3-run homer from Chiefs right fielder, Corey Brown, put the Clippers into a hole they couldn’t dig themselves out of.

Later in the game, Clippers DH Jeremy Hermida found himself in a situation many little leaguers dream about. In the bottom of the ninth, with the bases loaded, a full count, and two outs, Hermida had a good look at a pitch from Syracuse reliever, Michael Crotta. Unfortunately, Hermida looked at that pitch a bit too long and watched it sail by as the umpire called strike three.
