Clintonville Shops Merge Into One Location

Wholly Craft’s little sister is moving in. Surprise Modern Party + Cocktail Goods, 15 W. Dunedin Rd., will close up shop March 31 to move in around the corner with its sister-store, Wholly Craft at 3515 N. High St.

Surprise opened in the Short North in the summer of 2016 before moving to its current Clintonville address in early 2018. The party goods store is the second concept from owner Olivera Bratich who has operated Wholly Craft in Clintonville since 2005.

Instead of sending shoppers back and forth between stores to plan the ultimate party, Wholly Craft will now provide everything all in one place, from cards and gifts, to balloons and party accessories. It will also allow the shop to expand its popular workshops.

“After we moved Surprise to Clintonville last year to be closer to Wholly Craft, we were also able to share staff and resources more effectively,” Bratich says. “At the same time, workshops and events were getting really popular at Wholly Craft and we were struggling to find room to host everyone comfortably.”

That problem has been solved as the Surprise storefront will now serve as a space for workshops, events, and parties.

“In addition to an expanded workshop schedule, we’ll also be able to offer party decor packages to complement private birthday parties or bridal/baby showers in the new space,” Bratich says. “Folks will be able to rent out the space as-is or have it fully decked out with a fun party theme and ready to go.”

Surprise will reopen inside Wholly Craft in late April.
