City of Whitehall Announces First Dog Park

The City of Whitehall has unveiled plans to create the city’s first dog park at the site of a previously empty lot at the corner of Beechwood Road and Lamby Lane.

“Over a decade ago, the former house on this property was vacant, abandoned and ultimately demolished,” said Whitehall Mayor Kim Maggard. “Subsequently, the lot has sat empty and been mowed at the city’s expense. With the idea of adding to our parks system in mind, the city has worked to acquire the 2.3-acre site over the past two years.”

The 2.3-acre property is part of a nearly $1 million investment into five parks over the last year, including reclaiming land at Whitehall Community Park, replacing dated playground equipment, and teaming up with the YMCA of Central Ohio to renovate the community center into the Community Park YMCA.

“With the help of the city attorney, the Franklin County Land Bank, also known as the Central Ohio Community Improvement Incorporation, and the Whitehall CIC, we can now add new parkland for our four-legged friends to enjoy,” said Maggard.
