Council considers private talks to fill vacancies
By Robert VitaleColumbus City Council President Michael C. Mentel backed suggestions last night for changes in the way the council fills its vacancies. The most likely option is a rule change that would allow council members to discuss potential appointees in private.
“We have to get another process going,” Mentel said last night at the first council meeting since Jan. 13, when he and two others voted to appoint Far East Side residents A. Troy Miller and Eileen Y. Paley to fill two council vacancies.
