    By Robert Vitale

Eight candidates filed papers today to run for seats on the Columbus City Council, requiring a field-narrowing primary in May if all end up certified for the ballot.

Incumbent Priscilla R. Tyson said today that she intends to run for re-election. A. Troy Miller and Eileen Paley will run for full four-year terms.

Republicans nominated three candidates endorsed by party leaders in January: Matthew Ferris, Alicia Healy and Roseann Hicks.

Two independent candidates filed petitions as well: Mataryun “Mo” Wright, a Far East Side government consultant, and Nicholas Schneider, a Clintonville videographer.

No Republicans filed papers to challenge City Auditor Hugh J. Dorrian and City Attorney Richard C. Pfeiffer Jr., who also are seeking re-election.
