City Council Appoints Rob Dorans to Replace Stinziano

On Monday, Feb. 25, City Council appointed Rob Dorans as its newest member. Dorans, who is currently serving as commissioner for the Recreation and Parks Department, fills the vacancy left by former President Pro Tem Michael Stinziano, who was elected as County Auditor in the 2018 general election.

“We are very pleased to have Rob Dorans join our team and look forward to the unique perspective he brings,” said Council President Shannon Hardin. “In addition to his service on the Columbus Recreation and Parks Commission, Rob has been fighting for workers in Ohio for years.”

Alongside his position at the Recreation and Parks Department, Dorans is an attorney and chief legal counsel for the Affiliated Construction Trades Ohio. He has earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Ohio University.

“Columbus is at a watershed moment,” said Dorans in his application letter. “The decisions made by our leaders over the next decade will dictate whether the prosperity of our City is shared with all of our community members. It is my hope to be part of the team that seizes these opportunities and works to address the challenges in front of us.”
