Campus-area sports bar Chumley’s is losing their home to the wrecking ball at 1918 North High Street, but the business has plans to relocate and reopen just a few blocks south. The bar posted an updated on its Facebook page earlier this month announcing that it will be relocating inside the new Highline on Nine development located just south of the Gateway.

Demolition began last week on the entire block of eight buildings located between 16th Avenue and 17th Avenue on High Street, which includes the building that Chumley’s was formerly housed in. The block will eventually be home to a new six-story mixed-use apartment and retail building from Edwards Communities that will include a 161-unit apartment facility that will house up to 448 students, on top of 50,000 square feet of ground floor retail and a 171-space parking garage.

Chumley’s officially closed at 1918 North High Street back on June 25th. They plan to reopen in their new location sometime in the Summer of 2017.

The Highline on Nine — which is also an Edwards Communities development — is a five-story mixed-use building that will include 22,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and 480 student housing beds. The development is currently under construction and scheduled for a Summer 2017 completion.
