Chatterbox on Whittier Street Under New Ownership

The Chatterbox, in business on Whittier Street since the late 1930s, has been sold and will reopen with the same name and concept under new ownership. Owned by Tom Snow since 2004, Chatterbox has been bought and sold several times since opening, most recently being sold to Ran Dezalovsky, who’s planning minor renovations.

“When I looked into the history of the chatterbox I just love it. It’s an old community bar,” Dezalovsky said. “I want to keep the history and give it a better future, so I decided to keep it the Chatterbox and keep it relatively the same.”

Dezalovsky said the sign out front would be restored and relit, and a new paint job will revive the interior of the bar.

Renovations on The Chatterbox, located at 554 E. Whittier St., begin on Monday and will last roughly 18 days. There will then be a grand re-opening under Dezalovsky, an 18-year resident of Columbus.
