According to a new report from PropertyShark.com, Central Ohio is home to 38 percent of the state’s most expensive zip codes, calculated by their median home sale prices for 2016. The Village of Galena in Delaware County was the highest priced zip code in the region with a median home sale price of just over $388,000, taking second place only to Terrace Park, located in the Cincinnati area.

“Franklin County is the #1 county for expensive zip codes – 11 out of the top 50,” reported Eliza Theiss at Property Shark.

Those 11 zip codes in Franklin County include areas of Columbus as well as New Albany, Dublin and Orient. Five zip codes in Delaware County also made the list, representing Powell, Westerville, Lewis Center and Sunbury in addition to Galena. Other Central Ohio cities to make the Top 50 include Granville in Licking County, Plain City in Madison County, and Lithopolis in Fairfield County.

“Residential real estate in Ohio had a great run in 2016, registering its best year in a decade, despite rising prices and rapidly shrinking inventory levels,” added Theiss. “More than 151,000 homes traded in the Buckeye State in 2016, marking a 7.5 percent increase over the previous year. Market indicators for early 2017 show that Ohio is not slowing down, with prices and sales volume increasing, while inventories continue to shrink.”
