Slow Food Columbus announced this morning that Central Ohio will have 9 delegates headed to the biennial Terra Madre conference in Turin Italy this October. Terra Madre is an international event that aims to bring together farmers, chefs, educators and activists for the discussion of the sustainable food movement.

The confirmed Central Ohio delegates include Jeni Britton-Bauer of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams; Lynne Genter, Laura Zimmerman and Therese Poston of The Clintonville Farmers’ Market; Dick Jensen of Flying J Farm; Val Jorgensen of Jorgensen Organic Farms; Mike and Laura Laughlin of Northridge Organic Farm; and Warren Taylor of Snowville Creamery. John Dornback of Basi Italia was also selected as an alternate and is on the waitlist, possibly to be confirmed as a 10th delegate.

A total of 5,000 delegates from around the world will take part in this event, and only 400 of those will be delegates from the United States.

Slow Food Columbus is raising funds to cover the travel expenses to send these Central Ohio delegates to the event and have several fundraising events coming up including the Girasole dinner on July 24 and the Shake the Hand That Feeds You dinner on August 14. More information about those events can be found HERE.
