    CAPA Announces 2013-2014 Season

    The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) announced today its lineup for the 2013-2014 season, which includes a mix of new and returning performances from recent years. Some of the season’s highlights include Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons performing November 3rd at The Palace Theatre, Over the Rhine performing December 5th at The Lincoln Theatre, and comedian Ron White performing on January 17 at the Palace Theatre.

    Tickets for most shows go on sale to the general public on Friday, September 6th. The full event list for the 2013-2014 season can be found below.

    Chris Thile, of Punch Brothers, is a mandolin virtuoso, composer, and vocalist. With his broad outlook that encompasses progressive bluegrass, classical, rock, and jazz, Thile transcends the borders of conventionally circumscribed genres, creating a distinctly American canon and a new musical aesthetic for performers and audiences alike. On this new program, he draws from his 2013 release, Bach Sonatas & Partitas Vol. 1, while also exploring his own compositions and contemporary music.

Through audience participation the kids not only educate and motivate Max, but in doing so, learn they too are special, filled with all the “kid power” needed to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors necessary to make health-enhancing choices and feel great.

    Anne Lehmann and her family no longer feel safe in their Berlin home. Life in Germany is deteriorating quickly for the Lehmanns and all Jews in Germany. In order to protect their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lehmann may have to say goodbye to her forever. Now Anne must struggle to bring meaning out of despair, to cling to love and hope even in a world that seems to be filled with hatred and violence. As they show young people what happened in Germany and in other occupied nations prior to and during World War II – and how a heroine survived thanks to her own courage and the generosity of others – ArtsPower will teach them the importance of combating intolerance. The ultimate goal is to motivate children not only to appreciate reading and the theatre but also to love and respect all their fellow human beings.
