BrewDog Submits Plans for East Franklinton Brewery and Taproom

Just a few months after the opening of their first stateside facility in Canal Winchester, Scottish brewery BrewDog is already in the planning stages for its new pub in East Franklinton. The BrewDog Franklinton Brewery and Taproom’s proposal was submitted to the city for approval on May 9.

Once a neighborhood auto-repair shop, the currently unassuming building at 463 W. Town St. will see a serious overhaul. It will transform the spot into a dining and drinking destination, complete with a rooftop bar and patio.

The first floor boasts more than 4,000 square feet of space, which will feature a bar, cask display and retail section. Folding windows will open onto the patio, which designates space for seating, as well as a fire feature and a food truck. On the nearly-3,000 square foot rooftop patio will be another fire feature, bar and set of restrooms.

BrewDog owners requested a zero parking requirement. The city’s staff approved the request under the condition that they establish a shared plan for 15 spaces with an adjoining property owner and that they develop a plan for landscaping, lighting and graphics, said Chris Sherman, Project Manager with Urban Smart Growth, which owns and manages 400 West Rich Street and other Franklinton properties.

BrewDog Franklinton will join a handful of other bars taking over the area, destined for a location just minutes away from Strongwater, Rehab Tavern and Land-Grant Brewing Company.
