The days are numbered to get your fix at Boxwood Biscuit Co. The Short North eatery announced it would officially close its doors at 19 W. Russell St. after service on Sunday, January 30.
The pandemic pop-up turned brick-and-mortar had a 10-month run in the space.
“We knew we took a big risk when we officially opened Boxwood on Russell Street in March, but we were full of ambition, hope, and drive that we could overcome anything,” a post announcing the closure read. “Sadly 2021 got the best of us.”
Boxwood Biscuit Co. was a collaboration between Law Bird Owners Luke Pierce and Annie Williams Pierce and chef Tyler Minnis. Law Bird remains open in the Brewery District, and the couple recently opened Law Bird Supply House in Grandview.
The ongoing pandemic played heavily into the decision to close.
“Like countless other businesses, we faced supply chain issues, staffing shortages, sky rocketing product costs, and a yo-yoing pandemic that kept our new business in a constant state of fight or flight,” the post continued. “Even the days of the week that the holidays fell this year weren’t on our side.”
The post thanked customers for their support over the past year and encouraged diners to support other small, Columbus-based businesses.
