A six-story mixed-use development that was announced in November will be returning for its second review by the Downtown Commission during tomorrow’s monthly meeting. Local developer Borror has submitted updated visuals to go with their presentation.
If approved in its current form, the new development would see the demolition of several existing buildings, which historic preservation advocates have voiced concerns about. The new structure would include ground floor retail space facing State Street, five floors with 220 apartment residences above, and a parking garage structure underneath.
“We are excited about this foray into a new, exciting and growing part of our city,” stated Borror President and COO Lori Steiner during an interview with CU in November. “Being next to Grant Medical Center and surrounded by a number of large offices makes this the perfect location to offer brand new apartments with great amenities.”
Borror has submitted the project for final approval by the Commission this month, seeking their Certificate of Appropriateness, which would allow the project to move forward toward construction.
