A body was recovered from the Scioto River today, March 23, 2019, in the area of the Whittier St. peninsula. Columbus Police Special Victims Bureau personnel and the Columbus Police Dive team were working together and discovered the body.
The Franklin County Coroner’s office was called in to investigate.
At this time, there are no details released about the body.
Brian Peters, father of Amber Evans, a community organizer who has been missing since January 28, 2019 when her car was found near the Scioto Mile, posted on his Facebook page that it has not been confirmed to be his daughter.
This story will be updated as more details are released from the Coroner’s investigation.
Updated 3/24/19: Columbus Police have stated that the body has been positively identified as missing black activist, 28 year old Amber Evans. The family has been notified.
