Block’s Bagels will open at the North Market, 59 Spruce St., this spring. It’s the third Central Ohio location for Block’s which also operates brick-and-mortar storefronts in Bexley and Reynoldsburg.
Block’s Bagels at the North Market will offer a breakfast and lunch menu of deli classics, as well as carry-out bagels and cream cheeses. The menu will feature deli sandwiches, house made chicken, tuna and egg salad, and traditional sides like dill potato salad, green apple slaw and pickles. Hearkening its New York heritage, potato knishes, potato latkes, matzah ball soup and black and white cookie will also be available.
“Like a bagel with cream cheese, I believe North Market and Block’s Bagels are a perfect pairing,” says Owner Jeremy Fox. “We share similar core values and purpose, bringing community together through tradition, sustainability, and excellence. We are very happy to soon be able to call North Market home and look forward to expanding the new version of Block’s Bagels.”
The bagel maker will occupy the former home of Taste of Belgium, which left the market after 10 years this winter. When asked about the reason for the departure, Taste of Belgium owner Jean-Francois Flechet said, “The North Market Board decided not to renew our lease. They want to focus on incubating new businesses.”
Block’s has been a Columbus staple since it first opened in 1967, offering authentic boiled-then-baked New York style bagels.
