At 612 N. High St., Blick Art Materials has been open 17 years. Originally as a Utrecht Art Supplies location before the company was acquired by Blick, the fine art supply store has served the Short North arts community for nearly two decades.

But in a recent Instagram post, the store cites years of construction, difficult and confusing parking, and rising rent as the catalysts for its closing.

“Some will say they saw this coming … Admittedly, we saw it too,” read the post. “We will miss this quirky little store, but we look forward to supporting all Columbus area artists, at Sawmill and beyond.”

The Blick Art Materials will relocate the majority of its staff to its Sawmill Plaza location, at 6486 Sawmill Rd.

As for supplies, the High Street location has begun selling materials on clearance, and will continue to do so through its March 9 closing. Throughout the remainder of the year, Blick Art Materials will also host a number of pop-up shops at 400 W. Rich and Ohio State’s campus.
