The Butcher & Grocer Lands on National List of Best Butcher Shops and Meat Markets in America
Food & Wine has realized what many locals already know, The Butcher & Grocer is one of the best butcher shops in the country. The Grandview shop at 1089 W. First Ave. made the list of shops identified through one clear standard, “The more sustainable, the more rebellious against the prevailing winds in a morally corrupt industry, the better.”
Opened in 2016, The Butcher & Grocer offers Ohio beef, lamb, pork, chicken and more that is 100% pastured and antibiotic and growth hormone-free. With products available at several local restaurants, The Butcher & Grocer also recently opened meat-centric restaurant CLEAVER just a few doors down from its butcher shop.
The Butcher & Grocer was the only Central Ohio shop to make the list and one of four spots across the state.

BrewDog x Middle West Teaming Up on Boilermaker Series
The Boilermaker – it’s a classic combo, a glass of whiskey sipped alongside a beer. BrewDog and Middle West Spirits are teaming up to introduce an all-local boilermaker experience. Middle West has released two limited-edition whiskeys designed to be paired with two favorite BrewDog craft beers.
Pairing combos include:
- Soul of Scarlet is a bourbon whiskey from Middle West Spirits crafted to be paired with BrewDog’s Jet Black Heart nitro milk stout. Bottled at 47.5% ABV, it has notes of toffeed nuts, coconut cream pie, caramel corn notes, with a sweetness that is accompanied by the chocolate and coffee notes of BrewDog’s 6.0% nitro stout.
- Lucky Find wheat whiskey is crafted to be paired with BrewDog’s Lost Lager dry-hopped pilsner. At 46% ABV, notes of brandied cherries, vanilla bean, and caramel round out the palate, with a sweet finish that is cut through with the refreshing and crisp, citrus flavors of BrewDog’s 4.7% pilsner.
All of Ohio’s BrewDog bars are serving the boilermaker series, or imbibers can opt for an at-home experience by purchasing each. The beer is available through BrewDog’s online shop and at all BrewDog retail locations, and the whiskey can be found at Middle West Spirits’ Bottle Shop or online.
