Big Mamma’s Burritos Opening Grandview Avenue Location

Athens-based Big Mamma’s Burritos has expanded their Columbus reach with the announcement of a new Grandview Avenue location that may open as soon as this weekend.

Big Mamma’s is moving into 1359 Grandview Avenue, a former zpizza location just north of Grandview Heights in the Fifth by Northwest neighborhood. The cozy 1,000-square-foot space will seat approximately 16 at a few small tables and barstools. Limited outdoor seating will also be available. For fans of the original Athens location, this Big Mamma’s will be operated similarly, with a carryout-focused setup.

The restaurant will serve the original Athens burrito menu for the moment, experimenting with new food once they’re settled in. A regular burrito will run you $6.75.

“The outpouring of support from all of the people that love Big Mamma’s has been great,” said owner Quinn Schaller. “Grandview is a great spot. We’re right in the heart of everything — people can grab a burrito and go to their favorite spot, or grab one on their way home.”

Schaller’s sights weren’t originally set on Grandview Avenue. Construction was in the works for an Old North location, but plans were shut down by city approval roadblocks. When plans fell through, Schaller hit the ground running looking for new potential spaces.

In addition to Grandview Avenue, Big Mamma’s has ongoing partnerships with Park Street Patio and Saloon, and the upcoming South High Street Daily Growler. They’ll also partner with North Campus soccer bar Hendoc’s Pub in the near future.

Big Mamma’s Burritos will be open daily, 11 a.m. – 3 a.m. According to their Facebook page, they’re currently aiming on a grand opening this Friday, April 15th, but said they’ll provide an update later this week to confirm.
