A new, full-service butcher shop is slated to open soon in Bexley.
Macelleria East Side Butchery should open this week, says chef and owner Phillip Clary. The shop will have COVID precautions in place, including mask-wearing and a limit on the number of customers in the store.
Clary and head butcher Kyle Cardwell worked at a butcher shop together five years ago, and plans for their own shop began early on.
“We were very fortunate on the location,” said Clary. “Cornucopia Catering closed its doors after 25 years, we walked the space, it was a no-brainer. Perfect size, on Main Street, and it was outfitted for a restaurant.”
Clary, who also own Poolside Grill at Bexley Pool, says the butchery will focus on Italian products.
The butchery will sell beef, lamb, pork, chicken, sausages, wild boar, charcuterie, and dry-aged steaks from Ohio farms.
Clary says he is excited to serve Columbus with this new venture.
“I have my four main suppliers that will supply us weekly, but we will also feature other Ohio farms throughout the year,” said Clary. “We are dedicated and passionate about this trade, to the art and craftsmanship of butchering. Ohio farms, pasture-raised, no antibiotics [and] no hormones.”
Macelleria is located at 2474 E. Main St. in Bexley. Find more information on macelleriabexley-butchershop.business.site.
