2012 was a good year for urban development, with dozens upon dozens of projects built or announced, and 2013 promises to have more of the same.
When we asked our readers which development this year was their favorite, they picked out the new Hilton Dowtown Columbus hotel to take first place. The new 14-story $140 million hotel opened in October in between the Convention Center and Arena District, providing 500 new full service rooms to the Downtown area. The new hotel also includes the Gallerie Bar & Bistro, an upscale french restaurant run by local chef Bill Glover. The Hilton Dowtown Columbus is expect to bring new convention goers and other visitors into Downtown, where they are a short walk from The North Market, the Short North and many other urban destinations.
