What makes a specialty store special? Our loose definition is that it best described as place that doesn’t fit an easy categorization. And this year’s reader survey favorite is a very good example of that.

Celebrate Local is a cozy shop tucked away inside the Easton Town Center complex that focuses on anything and everything Ohio-made, from food to clothing to books to booze to jewelry to artwork to gift items and more. The whole concept began as a season pop-up extension of the Easton Farmers Market that could continue indoors during the winter. It proved so popular that it was relocated into a permanent space and is now open year-round selling products from over 200 artisans and small businesses from around the state.

“Celebrate Local would like to expand in Ohio, possibly to Cleveland and Cincinnati, within the next year or two,” said Celebrate Local Founder and Co-Creator Heidi Maybruck during a CU Interview in March. “We want to continue to be a beacon in raising awareness of how supporting local helps our community at large.”
