A new question on this year’s annual reader survey asked about favorite local spots for a cheap date night out on the town. The question was inspired by popular date-centric articles published this year, including the $20 Dates roundup by Pocketbook Jess, and the Summer Picnic Ideas by Anne.

So, when we started combing through the results of this question, we noticed that the top four answers all had something in common: they’re all located on the same block. Dirty Frank’s, El Camino Inn, Little Palace and the 16-Bit Bar+Arcade have collectively become known as the hippest new Downtown destination on a lively stretch of South Fourth Street. And the best part is that a night out at these establishments won’t break the bank.

Between the $3 sliders at Little Palace, $4 Slushie Cocktails at Dirty Frank’s, $5 Burritos at El Camino and $3 Oranjeboom Tallboys at 16+Bit (with free arcade games!) you can have an amazing night out on the town on this block without totally wrecking your budget.
