Best Mode of Alternative Transportation of 2014: CBUS Circulator

After launching in May, the CBUS Circulator bus route quickly won the hearts of local riders, who voted it as their number one mode of alternative transportation in Columbus this year. The free-to-ride bus route utilizes smaller shuttle buses that run in a loop from The Short North to German Village with stops throughout Downtown, The Arena District, The Brewery District and RiverSouth.

Representatives at the Central Ohio Transit Authority (who manages the CBUS system) informed us at the end of November that over 300,000 trips had been logged on the route during the first seven months, exceeding initial expectations. COTA is currently seeking corporate sponsorship to keep the route free-to-ride, which is currently only guaranteed through May 2015.
