You can’t think about buying local without thinking about Jeni’s, right? With their main ingredient (milk from Snowville Creamery) coming from Ohio, and many seasonal flavors that utilize Ohio-grown ingredients, they’re about as committed as it gets to representing home-grown flavors. And better yet, they’re spreading the Ohio love outside the local realm with new stores opening in Chicago and beyond.

“We make everything we can from scratch, with many of our ingredients provided to us by farmers and producers in the Midwest or shipped directly from international partners,” said Jeni’s Founder Jeni Britton Bauer earlier this year during the Chicago opening. “And our scoop shops, with our impeccable service, serve as a true reflection of the work we put into our great ice creams.”

It was a big year locally for Jeni’s as well. Their original North Market location was recently moved and updated, they opened a seasonal pop-up scoop shop at Columbus Commons, debuted an ice cream vending machine at Port Columbus, and opened a new location at Easton Town Center.
