Best Cultural Institution of 2013: The Wexner Center

A new category in our annual readers survey this year focused on the cultural institutions of Columbus where we go to take part in art exhibitions, events, live theatre and so much more. We determined that this was something missing from our previous surveys, which included categories for arts organizations, art galleries and art shows.

And the first time winner of this new category is the popular Wexner Center for the Arts. As the city’s primary modern art museum and exhibition space, the Wex has continued to pique the interest of locals in 2013 with everything from banned documentaries to foodie-centric events to traveling art exhibitions.

2014 promises to be a big year for the Wexner Center, as the venue celebrates its 25th anniversary. The year will kick off with a bang in January with Via Brasil, a multi-disciplinary exploration of the country’s culture.
