Best Columbus Champion of 2013: Elizabeth Lessner
Columbus is a great city because it is filled with great people. We’ve revealed the results of our annual readers survey over the past two weeks, which has highlighted many different entrepreneurs, artists, chefs, musicians, entertainers, philanthropists and more.
Our final Best of list is a new category this year, designed to discover which local individual is the best champion for the city of Columbus, not only through their own areas of interest, but across a broader spectrum. Every single one of the people that made the Top 10 is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the city of Columbus, and at the very top of that list, our 2,000+ voters picked Elizabeth Lessner.
Lessner is best known as a restaurateur behind the Columbus Food League, a collection of unique individual restaurants that have been making the local dining experience more fun since 2001. Lessner took on a secondary job as the owner and operator behind Eartha Limited (pictured up top with her team), a waste diversion business that helps restaurants recycle food scraps.
Beyond her own ventures, Lessner has worked on countless committees, boards, commissions and other organizations, some of which include the Central Ohio Restaurant Association, Short North Business Association, Central Ohio Workforce Investment Corp, COTA’s Mobility Advisory Board, Create Columbus Commission, University Area Womens Leadership Group and Dine Originals Columbus.
This combination of entrepreneurial vision, artistic creativity, a commitment to the community, and the ability to get things done are what define a true Columbus Champion.
