Ever since we started polling our readers about their favorite place for an affordable bite to eat back in 2010, they’ve always answered the call with Dirty Frank’s Hot Dog Palace. This year, we have a new winner in the category as Condado has taken top billing with their three dollar tacos as the best cheap eats in the city.

The surge in popularity of Condado could be attributed in equal parts to the general rise of the taco as a dining trend, as well as the growth of the local restaurant, which launched a Downtown location this summer with another on the way to Easton in 2017.

“You walk into the new digs, immediately and firmly convinced you have found THE place where THE cool people hang out,” wrote CU Food Critic Miriam Bowers Abbott in her review of the new Downtown Condado location. “Their guacamole is a straight-shooter, with little chunks of tomato and a zingy citrus accent.”
