Bend Active Opening Short North Retail Store
After two years in business on Lane Avenue, Bend Active is ready to expand. Owners Laura Heller and Adam Heller are launching their second retail outlet in the Short North on December 1st, giving locals a new place to shop for the Bend brand of fitness and active apparel.
“We feel that the Short North is home to the best of what’s cool about Columbus,” Adam told Columbus Underground yesterday. “So we wanted to be there, and we’re excited to be in the neighborhood where we can be inspired by the folks that are there already.”
Adam describes Bend as “an inspired fit fashion apparel brand”, which works with local designers to bring unique styles to their line of tank tops, shirts, yoga pants, accessories and more.
“My wife Laura oversees all of the design and sourcing of the apparel, and does most of the heavy lifting for the business,” said Adam. “The new store will be a little smaller than the Lane Avenue store, but it will really be a showcase of the unique lines, as well as our bamboo fabric line which is really soft and comfortable.”
The Hellers recognize that there’s a growing trend in active lifestyles in Columbus, particularly with a younger demographic. Adam stated that the trend carries through yoga, running, team sports and community athletics, but also ties into larger trends that Millennials are interested in.
“There’s a trend towards being mindful about being healthy and well,” he stated. “Fitness goes along with that, and creativity goes along with that, and caring about your community goes along with that. These things are all important to us, and we want to share those values through apparel.”
The Short North Bend Active is located at 1104 North High Street, next door to Standard Hall and across the street from Yoga on High. Their grand opening date is yet to be announced, but their holiday hours will run from 11am to 8pm Mondays through Saturdays and Noon to 5pm on Sundays.
