“We want to inspire with the incredible stories of Columbus’ fitness community,” noted Adam Heller, co-owner with his wife, Laura, of Bend a local designer/manufacturer of athletic wear. Bend will have three fashion shows and a booth at the upcoming 2018 Arnold Classic.
Bend is trying out models for their runway shows this week. RSVP information is below.
Speaking from the MAGIC fashion event in Las Vegas, the Hellers are very excited about being part of the 2018 Arnold Classic.
“The Arnold is such a huge event with people coming in from all over to participate … It is a great opportunity to showcase not only our products but also Columbus’ yoga and fitness stars,” the couple says.
Local yoga guests at the Arnold 2018 include Babajide Ogunmola of LIT Life + Yoga, Karine Wascher of Yoga on High and Engaged Higher Degree Fitness and Jasmine Grace. Julie Wilkes of Seven Studios is the organizer of this year’s yoga events at the Arnold.
Also among local fitness stars associated with Bend is Shelley Meyer who worked with Bend to create a collection of fun and functional athletic clothing. Meyer is not only a fitness professional (spinning) but also an experienced psychiatric nurse and mother.
“She is a great example of someone who realizes the link between a healthy mind and physical activity,” says Heller. A portion of profits from sales goes to the Urban & Shelley Meyer Fund for Cancer Research.
To audition for the Bend shows at the 2018 Arnold, RSVP. Part of the application includes the questions:
1) What inspires you?
2) Why is fitness/yoga important in your life?
3) What is your favorite quote?
The Hellers say their business is not just about clothes; it’s also about inspiring everyone to “bend not break” when confronted with life’s obstacles.
