Barroluco Opening First Brick and Mortar Downtown

El Arepazo’s old Pearl Alley location won’t go vacant for long. Barroluco, voted top food truck by CU readers in 2017, will open its first brick and mortar there soon.

Barroluco, owned and operated by Omar D’Angelo and family, doesn’t have an opening date for the new location at 47 N. Pearl St., though the space was officially vacated by El Arepazo on Nov. 9.

Once open, it’ll run as a fast-casual restaurant, serving up Argentine cuisine.

The food truck first hit the pavement in 2016. They offer empanadas with beef or chicken, paella bowls, choripán, fries, paella rice, alfajores, and churros.

“This moment is the result of a focused vision for our small business and the expertise provided by ECDI, SBDC, SCORE and Columbusites who have been extremely supportive,” D’Angelo says in a release. “This is a great responsibility, and we are up to the challenge of adding to the culinary diversity of Columbus and Ohio as a whole.”

Once open, Barroluco will operate during the week for lunch only (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.), with the intent to add nights and weekends at a later date.
